World Youth Festival: let's start the future together!

The World Youth Festival invites you to become part of the largest international youth event to be held in Russia.

 From March 1 to March 7, 2024, a rich and vivid program awaits participants on the Sirius federal territory. Further, the Festival will be supplemented by the regional program - from March 10 to March 17, 2024, the foreign participants will visit 30 cities of Russia. In total, 20,000 young leaders from Russia and abroad will take part in the World Youth Festival.

The World Youth Festival will be attended by leaders in business, media, education, science, international cooperation, culture, volunteering charity, sports and other various spheres of life, including 10,000 foreign participants.

Anyone aged 18 to 35, as well as teenagers aged 14 to 17, can apply for participation in the festival on the official website of the WYF-2024 https://reg.fest2024.com/en/main.

Registration for foreign participants will last until December 1, 2023.

The festival program is based on a set of universal values. The youth of the whole world is invited to reflect on them together and exchange ideas on how to build the future world on this basis. It includes not only discussions and lectures by eminent experts, but also an exhibition program, cultural exchange, sports competitions and joint training, volunteer actions and other interactive formats.

The Festival will not be limited to the main venue, the WYF will go beyond its borders and will attract active youth from all over the world who, for any reason, will not be able to join the WYF in Sirius. Young people from other countries will also be able to become part of the Festival online, and further interaction with them will be continued on a systematic basis.

The World Youth Festival is open to everyone, and everyone can become its part by submitting an application on the website www.fest2024.com as a participant or volunteer.

Discover Sochi

Sochi is often called the unofficial "Summer Capital" of Russia, or the Black Sea Pearl. This is the country's biggest and busiest summer sea resort, attracting more than four million visitors annually with its amazing mountainous coastline, endless pebbly beaches, warm sunny days, and bustling nightlife. From May to September Sochi's population at least doubles with tourists, including celebrities and the political elite of the country.

Sochi has always been associated in Russia's national mentality with the south, palms and a hot climate, that's why it was quite a bit of a surprise for many that the city won the 2014 Winter Olympic bid in 2007. The answers are an absence of harsh frost and the very promising Alpine resort of Krasnaya Polyana in the city area. The XXII Winter Olympics took place 7-23 Feb 2014 and were followed two weeks later by the Winter Paralympic Games, 7-18 Mar 2014. The Olympic and Paralympic Games were held in Sochi and the nearby ski resort "Roza Khutor" in Krasnaya Polyana. In 2014 Sochi was hosting the first Formula 1 Russian Grand Prix in Olympic park area. Formula 1 in Russia continues nowadays in Sochi Autodrom.

Sochi is attracting the events of all kinds and unites the people from all over the world. It used to be the stage for the largest global choral festival and competition - the 9th World Choir Games, 6-16 July 2016. Sochi was hosting the international youth event – the 19th World Festival of Youth and Students, 14-22 Oct 2017. Sochi was one of 21st FIFA World Cup 2018 cities in Russia. The city of Sochi has become known worldwide and continues to attract many different national and international mega-events.

The humid subtropical climate, high mountains, exotic vegetation, endless beaches, mineral baths, national parks, historic architecture, exciting attraction sites, art festivals and lively multicultural environment make Sochi a prominent resort destination. Sochi has a lot to offer for anyone who loves nature, sports, history, sunny beach leisure and active adventures. There is too much to do and too many things to see in Sochi so you will never be bored.

Sochi State University was established in 1989 as the Educational and Scientific Center for Training and Professional Development of staff for recreation and tourism industry. The main subdivision of the Center was the branch of the Kuban State University.  Three years later the Branch University became Sochi State Institute for Recreation and Tourism and in 1997 acquires the status of a university. In 2011 Sochi State University of Tourism and Recreation was renamed to the Federal State budgetary educational institution of higher education "Sochi State University". Since December 2021, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Ph.D. in Psychological Sciences, I.V.Gaidamashko is an Acting Rector of Sochi State University.

Nowadays there are 4 faculties at the State Sochi University: Faculty of Tourism and Services, Faculty of Economics and Law, Faculty of Social Studies and Pedagogics and Faculty of Innovative, Engineering and Digital Technologies. SSU also has a branch university in Anapa (350 km up the Black see coast). In 2010 SSU established the University college, and in 2011, the State Sochi University acquired "The Sochi economic and technological college" (the oldest college of Krasnodar Region) as a structural division. So the University College of Economics and Technology was established as a result of merging of two colleges into one. On the basis of the University College of Economics and Technology, a regional educational platform has been created for the training of mid-level specialists with WorldSkills Russia competencies.

SSU is nowadays a recognized leader in the South of Russia in staff training for tourism and recreation industry and provides education on a wide range of programs from Hotel and restaurant services to landscape design. The students have the opportunity to take full-time, part-time programs including the ones using the distance learning technologies. The University facilities include: Postgraduate Department, Employment Promotion Center, Publishing Center, Legal Clinic and Library.

Center for Additional Professional Education also operates on the basis of SSU. Annually, more than one and a half thousand students are trained in more than 100 advanced training and professional retraining programs on the basis of the Center.

SSU is the basic organization that provides the activities of the Federal Educational and Methodological Association in the higher education system in Russia in the domain of study "Service and Tourism".

Social Work and Volunteering

The SSU students are strongly engaged in social activities - volunteering, cultural activity, ecological education.

The health-recreational training center is open for students who go in for such sports as gymnastics, wrestling, aerobics, table tennis, and so on. There are sport clubs for volleyball, basketball, badminton, handball and football.

Employment

The Employment Promotion Center provides career counseling, assists graduated students in employment process and helps them adapt to the labor market. In the Center students are provided with employer’s information, labor market analysis, job advertisement and other information.

Here they can learn how to write an eye-catchy resume, a job application, how to act in a job interview in order to successfully kick-start their career. The Employment Promotion Center also gives information about educational projects, seminars, master-classes that help young specialists successfully enter the labor market and move smoothly up the career ladder.

Quality Management System

The SSU quality management system aims to improve quality of teaching process, education and research in order to reach the university's strategic goals. SSU quality management system based on the International Standards enables the university to demonstrate the ability to provide the education at a level that meets the high international/national standards and demands of employers and the labor market. The University’s activity is being constantly examined and monitored in order to improve the educational and scientific results. According to the quality management requirements the main goal of the University is to improve the customers’ satisfaction (employers, society and the state) providing them with high quality specialists, researchers for the Sochi tourism industry.
